Woo Hoo so another Royal Wedding. We have had a few since Charles and Diana, even Charles and Camilla but everyone seems to be getting excited about the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
I wonder if Bolton will get as excited about this Royal Wedding as it did for Charles and Diana, I remember it as a HUGE affair. First and foremost, we got a day off which has never happened since, in fact I remember listening to the Andrew and Fergies Wedding in a French lesson at school. I mean what is the point of listening to a Royal Wedding when its all about the dress! The other great thing about Charles and Diana's wedding was it built a real community spirit. In the area that I lived, we had street parties and fancy dress competitions, long tables set out in the street and all the families bringing items to eat.
I read in the Bolton News that for Charles and Diana's wedding more than 100 applications were received for permission for a street party, I wonder how many more went on without that permission.
I wonder what this Royal Wedding will mean for Bolton this time. There is already speculation over an additional day off, bookies are taking bets on the date and girls everywhere will be wondering about the dress.
