Actor Nicholas Gleaves will be joining Bolton Cancer Voices on Saturday 24th June,
7-15pm, for their celebratory concert ‘Melodies Of Stage & Screen’, in the Victoria Hall, Bolton.
The actor whose many credits include ‘Scott & Bailey’, ‘Vera’ and ‘Cold Feet’, will take to the stage as Compère for the Choir’s 5th Birthday event.
Originally from Bolton, Mr Gleaves has a very special reason for accepting the Choir’s invitation, his mother, Patricia, is amongst the cast; having joined Bolton Cancer Voices in 2016.
Karen Elliott, Chair of the Choir said: -
‘It’s a huge privilege to have Nicholas with us for this very special night. We appreciate how hectic his schedule must be and are thrilled that he’s available and so kindly agreed to join us.
Everyone has worked really hard for the event and we’re looking forward to our first experience of singing with an Orchestra.
We hope lots of people will turn up on the night to support us.’
Also joining the region’s first dedicated Choir for cancer patients and cancer survivors will be Affetside Choir, established in 1983 by parents and teachers of Affetside Primary School and Salford Symphony Orchestra: whose many performance highlights including three sell-out performances of Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute’ for the opening of the Lowry at Salford Quays; collaborations with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra; recording for BBC Radio 3; recording a promotional video for the ITV show ‘Judge Rinder’ and performing at such iconic venues as the Bridgewater Hall.
The exciting programme offers a night of iconic music from some of the best-known and loved musicals and films of our time
