AFG LAW launched a design competition for Bolton College art students to create a ‘Welcome to your new home’ card which they give to clients who they have assisted with the purchase of a new home.
They were delighted with the entries and Jordan Heathcote, aged 17, produced the winning design which was selected by Anita Boardman and Carl Fletcher from AFG LAW’s property department. Jordan is from Farnworth and is studying a BTEC level 3 diploma in Interactive Media.
The whole process has been collaboration between two local businesses, resulting in something tangible that will be used for the next few years by AFG LAW.
Anita Boardman, director at AFG LAW says “Carl and I felt that the standard of entries was excellent and chose Jordan’s design as we felt it both satisfied the brief and allowed placement of our own corporate branding without conflicting the design.”
Amanda Forrest from Bolton College arts faculty added “It was interesting that all students created digital designs for the competition. They all worked really hard on their entries and I’m sure Jordan is delighted with his new iPad Mini prize. It is great for our students to work on a live brief that will have a commercial impact.”
Carl Fletcher added, ‘We wanted to do something a little different - something which conveyed a stronger sense of community rather than a purely corporate or commercial design. We are welcoming people to their new home and we thought that if we could have a design produced from within the community it would be more sincere and have a friendlier feel to it.’
