Bolton will welcome the Olympic Torch on Friday June 1st next year as it makes it's way around the 1000 cities, towns and villages chosen to host it on it’s journey.
The torch will be carried into the town centre before leaving via Horwich and on to London where the Olympic Games opening ceremony will take place on July 27th.
Lord Coe, Chairman of the Olympic organising committee said during a recent visit to Bolton School, where he delivered the ‘Tillitson Lecture’, that he was delighted that Bolton had been chosen to host the torch on it’s travels and urged the people of Bolton to get involved in supporting the torch carriers in any way they can.
The Council are planning a celebration in Queens Park but details have yet to be finalised. More information about the route the torch will take will be disclosed closer to the time.
