Lewis Bacon's journey on the waters began at the tender age of eight in Manchester at the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre, inspired by his father's thrilling sea adventures. His early start in the sailing world saw him joining Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club, where his passion for racing ignited. Starting with the Topper class, Lewis quickly made his mark by winning regional and national races and achieving a remarkable top-20 finish at the 2022 Topper World Championships in Lake Garda, Italy.

Transitioning to the ILCA class, Lewis first competed in the ILCA 4 category, continuing his streak of success with wins in regional events and a national race. His prowess and dedication led him to compete at the ILCA 4 World Championships in Volos, Greece, in 2023.

Currently, Lewis competes in the ILCA 6 class, a pivotal category for youth men and Olympic women. Despite being relatively new to this class, his achievements are impressive, including a 9th place finish at the National Inland Championships. Lewis is set to represent Great Britain at the upcoming ILCA 6 Youth European Championships in Ballyholme, Northern Ireland, aiming to further his status as a top international competitor.
