Expert analysis published last week has claimed that whichever party wins the key Bolton West seat will ultimately go onwards to Number 10.
The analysis shows that the Conservatives need a swing of about 6% to win a Commons majority, seeing the current MP Ruth Kelly of Labour in Bolton West being replaced by Tory Susan Williams.
Labour, who have put forward new candidate Julie Hilling, hope to cling onto the important Bolton vote and therefore surpass the Tory majority.
The Tories need a nationwide swing of almost 7%, larger than that Margaret Thatcher achieved in 1979, to reach to overall majority figure of 326 Commons seats and win the election.
