Gas Safety Week is September 15th to 21st.
Many of us use gas appliances in our homes without a moment’s thought, and rightly so. However, it is right as we approach the end of Summer to ensure that the utilities upon which we all rely on a daily basis are fit for purpose and safe to use.
To that end Gas Safety Week is a yearly event designed to inform people about the safety of gas supplies and appliances in their homes. It is vitally important for gas appliances to be taken care of and regularly maintained so that emissions are kept to a safe minimum and maximum effectiveness is achieved.
The Gas Safe Register is the organising body behind the Gas Safety Week, they are the body holding the list of gas engineers who are legally permitted to work on your household boiler, gas cooker, and gas fire.
Gas Safe Engineers are trained and qualified specialists who have joined the register and who are available to conduct work on Gas systems within our homes, and businesses, including landlord rented properties where Gas appliances are in use.
Using Doug, a cartoon character, to raise awareness The Gas Safe Register will be seen and heard advising people to take appropriate action. The Best of Bolton has, amongst its members, a number of Gas Safe Engineers in Bolton will be available to offer assistance during Gas Safety Week.
Appliances should be checked and adjusted where necessary at least once every year, those that are left unchecked are a potential threat to the health, and life, of the occupants of homes and business premises due to gas leakage, fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. During the last year 343 people were injured and 10 people lost their lives due to gas related incidents, in the last few months a number of gas related accidents have been reported.
The Gas Safe Register operates a free reminder service at www.StayGasSafe.co.uk for those who wish to be reminded annually, a wise move for all concerned.
Bain Plumbing Services are fully Gas Safe registered and they offer a huge range of services. To find out more about them, give them a call on 01204 396669.
