What is World Book Day anyway? It is one day in the year when we celebrate authors, books and all that is good about books.
It is also a celebration of reading, the ability to curl up with a nice book and enter a world of your own. Reading is the gateway to knowledge, and is a wonderful way of relaxing and having fun too.
Children in Bolton will no doubt be asked to join in at school by dressing up as their favourite character from their favourite book, we can expect to see many fine examples of fancy dress with teachers and, hopefully, parents joining in the fun. We expect to see characters from the Classics including Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, no doubt a few more recent books such as The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, many Harry Potters and maybe a few Hobbits too.
If you're in need of a fancy dress costume for your child, Fancy That can help, they have thousands of costumes in stock
Celebrating World Book Day is about having great fun but it is also about reminding us of the wonderful value of reading, of books, and of our fabulous libraries. Have a great day.
