It seems these days, due to the economic climate, charities are having to be more and more creative in how they raise funds and I love this idea from the Salvation Army store in Bolton.

They have come up with a reward card where shoppers can earn points not only when they purchase from the shop but also when they donate items. This new 'loyalty' reward scheme is designed to keep current shoppers happy but also to bring in lots of new donations to the large store on Newport Street.

The card itself can end up with a total value of £15.

Bolton Hospice are also being really creative with their fundraising and have introduced a new and novel idea to bring donations into their 6 shops around Bolton.

Bolton Hospice recognsied some time ago that donations were down and they put this down to busy lives and other factors such as lack of parking close to the shops to enable ease of dropping things in.

Bolton Hospice now operate van collection points around Bolton in areas such as retail parks or places with easy parking. Details of the next collection points and local shops can be found here
