As part of our regular series meeting the members behind the business, this week we’re introducing you to Jackie Hyde of Stanmore Insurance.
Stanmore Insurance provides corporate and personal insurance to clients across Bolton. Jackie has been working at the company for over 25 years and has been a 1/3rd owner of the business for 13 of those. Becoming one of the owners of Stanmore was one of the most memorable and proudest moments of Jackie’s career so far.
Jackie started her career in the insurance industry after leaving school after her A Levels. She decided not to go to catering college as she originally planned and looked around for a job instead. After hundreds of applications and interviews, she landed a position as an accounts handler at Commercial Union. Although she had a really enjoyable time there, upon returning to work after having her daughter, Jackie felt the time was right to move on to new ventures.
She quickly found a new role working at Stanmore and she says the company felt right for her, even during the interview stage.
Jackie loves working in the insurance industry though. She adores the opportunity to provide a truly focused customer service ensuring Stanmore’s clients understand their business needs. Whether it’s helping someone with insurance for their new business, building a close working relationship with an existing client or helping someone with a difficult claim, Jackie and the team enjoy it all. They deal with many different types of businesses so they are never bored!
Jackie really wants people to understand the insurance they have bought from Stanmore and appreciate the product and service they are getting. This is important because if customers understand the value of what they are buying then they shouldn’t have an issue with a claim but more importantly Stanmore will have done their job properly.
The one piece of advice Jackie would give to those people looking to start their own business is make sure you have quality people around you and never be too proud to ask for advice, because there are some fabulous people out there who can help you.
