More details have been announced for the 2013 Bolton Food and Drink Festival. The festival takes place over the August bank holiday weekend (23rd-26th August.)
For the first time the Octagon Bolton will be taking part in the festivities. Harvey Nichols will be building a pop up restaurant in the recently renovated theatre.
On Friday 23rd August there will be a gala dinner for over 100 people. Chefs confirmed to attend the event include Chris Yates, Andrew Nutter and head chef at The Albert Halls Stephen Anderson. After the meal TV presenter Paul Crone will hold a question and answer session. Michael Caines is the star chef on this, the opening day of the festival.
On Saturday 24th August the festival will be running until 7pm, which is longer than previous years. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry are back by popular demand. They are the stars of the Great British Bake Off.
Aldo Zilli is the celebrity guest on Sunday 25th August. He has never been to the Bolton Food and Drink Festival before, but brings with him plenty of knowledge.
James Martin will round off the festival in style on Monday 26th August.
As well as the famous chefs, there will be free demonstrations by local cooks and bakers. In the speciality market 90 stalls will be on hand to offer taster sessions and open air cook alongs. The Crompton Place will have a special family zone with tons of family friendly events and activities. Victoria Square and Deansgate will be one of the focal points of the festival, with 2 music stages for local acts and a film club event. We're promised street entertainment too, and real ale and cider for the grown-ups.
