A Bolton Hindu Temple has been awarded the prestigious 'Top Tourist Attraction' by Visit England.
The Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Arts and Culture Centre on Deane Road, Bolton was opened in 2000, since when it has attracted over 125,000 visitors from around the world, with it's many colourful images of Gods and Goddesses on it's ceiling.
The Mayor Councillor Noel Spencer wore traditional Hindu dress as he joined the celebrations for the award on Monday 15 August, which nicely coincided with Indian Independence Day.
As well as great recognition for the Hindu community, this award is also great news for Bolton, raising it's profile in yet another way, demonstrating the length and breadth of diversity in the town
