Exciting times, Christmas is just around the corner and what symbolises Christmas for me is when you see the Turton Rotary Club Sleigh outside the supermarkets with Santa and his helpers working tirelessly collecting for great local causes. I am never too old to not get shivers and goose bumps when I see them!
Last year’s 2010 Sleigh Appeal started on 26th November at the Edgworth and Chapletown Christmas lights switch on and ended on 23rd December outside Morrisons supermarket in Harwood.
The total amount raised was a colossal £11,299.38 which is the most ever raised and given the current economic climate, Turton Rotary are especially thankful to those people who dug deep and contributed. ALL the money raised is distributed to local charities, groups and organisations with some dontations going to very worthwhile international charities.
The programme this year has already been set so listen out for the jingle bells and festive music and dig deep and generously to support this fantastic annual event and full details of the route they will be taking and venues they will be visiting can be found by visiting the Turton Rotary Club Website
We have some very special business members at thebestof bolton who work really hard for the Turton Rotary throughout the year and especially at this event Digicomm BCS, JKT Design and Bromleys Independant Funeral Directors are all fantastic examples of local Bolton businesses who want to get involved and make a difference to their local community.
