Things to do in the summer holidays in 2013 in Bolton

The summer holidays are almost upon us, and as always, there’s lots of things to do across Bolton.

Bolton Arena have 2 different kinds of clubs happening over the summer, gymnastics club and sports club. Bolton Arena is fully Ofsted registered and the camps are suitable for children aged 5-15. The timetable is often changed and updated to make it even more action packed, but there is usually rounders, arena Olympics, tennis, basketball and volleyball going on. It is on between 8am and 6pm every day and costs £20 a day or £90 a week. The gymnastics club runs for 3 hours a day and all children over the age of 5 can attend. Bolton Lads and Girls Club is another excellent holiday club. Running for 8-12 year olds, the delightful itinerary includes climbing, canoeing and quizzes. This club costs a maximum of £8 a day after 21st July and £6 before that date. Telephone BLGC on 01204 540100 if you want to find out more.

School Shuttle’s holiday club is just as entertaining.  Their holiday club has plenty of activities, such as day trips out in their modern minibus. Their telephone number is 01204 684544.

Parks across Bolton are gearing up for summer fun. Queens Park, Moses Gate Park and many more.

Summer is the ideal time for BBQ’s, especially with the magnificent weather we’ve been having recently. Buy your meat from the Barbie from Barrons of Beef. Order from the shop on 01204 684451. Bolton Markets have a tasty array of foods too.

There is never a shortage of things to do at Bolton Museum and Bolton Library. The summer reading challenge is well underway, asking youngsters to read half a dozen book over the holidays, with prizes if you read all 6.

For fun ways to spend the afternoon, visit our brilliant indoor soft play centres Fidgets and Whales and Snails. Infants can run riot in a safe secure environment, whilst parents relax in the on site cafes. To check availability, contact them on 01204 876691 and 01204 684089 respectively.

Bolton Octagon are running a stage school for children over the holidays. Even those that aren’t wannabe actor or actresses will enjoy the project. It will give them a chance to make new friends, improve their confidence and above all learn new skills, culminating in two performances in the middle of August.
