A record number of Bolton women turned out for yesterday's Race for Life in Leverhulme.
The annual race, which raises valuable funds for Cancer Research UK, was one of the biggest yet to take place in Bolton and raised more than £150,000 in just a few hours of running.
Bolton mum and cancer patient, Angela Orrell, opened the race and gave an inspiring speech to eager racers on the significance of the event: “It is important to raise awareness and everyone has their own memories of people they have lost. You never think it’s going to happen to you but I am here to prove that there is a positive side to it thanks to the work these people do.”
Over 27,000 local ladies and girls took part in the race which took place throughout Sunday.
Race organiser Rachel Hewitt commented: “It has been an amazing day and the support has been outstanding."
