Westhoughton Market Wins Best Small Indoor Market

We love good news at thebestof bolton and although it’s a few weeks ago now, wanted to carry on the celebrations with Westhoughton Market, once on the brink of closure and now been named as the best of its type in the country.

Westhoughton Market was named ‘The Best Small Indoor Market’ by the national Association of British Market Authorities and traders put their success down to working together and the support of Jackie Casey, Bolton Markets Manager.

In April last year only 6 traders were based at the market and now all of their 33 stalls are taken with a waiting list in place. The market is taking a proactive stance to doing business by attracting local people to a real variety of events such as their monthly farmers markets and a 1940’s day.

Both David, myself and the children have visited Westhoughton Market a few times recently and like to purchase the cup-cakes from Sugardoodle. The feeling inside the market hall is a lovely one, community based and we were even offered a drink from a stall holder while we sheltered, waiting for the rain to stop.

Long may our markets continue.
