We told you it might be happening! Bolton Council have announced that there will be free parking in Bolton town centre from 25th May. There will be no charge for parking all day at weekends and bank holidays at Deane Road, Topp Way and Octagon car parks.
During the Christmas season (November 2013 to January 2014), it will be free to park in these car parks after 3pm. This is similar to what happened during the last festive season. Between November 15th 2012 and January 27th 2013 the same rules applied.
It is hoped that the reduced cost of parking will encourage more people to shop in the town centre. Shops based in the area will be creating deals and incentives to go with the new parking arrangements.
The free parking will last for a year.
