About Bolton Symphony Orchestra
Bolton Symphony Orchestra was first formed back in 1988 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations for local government in Bolton. Today is has a reputation as one of the leading non-professional ensembles in the north due to its high standard in performances and innovative programme planning.
Bolton Symphony Orchestra's membership incorpates the very best in amateur, semi-professional and professional musicians from across the North of England.
The orchestra is completely self-financed and funded through a combination of subscriptions, sponsorship and concerts. Members of the orchestra are always interested in hearing from people who would like to join, hire or help the orchestra in any way.
History of Bolton Symphony Orchestra
Bolton Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1993 and performs a great range of ambitious music in concerts throughout the year. The orchestra ontributes significantly to the cultural life of the town through music and is a registered charity.
The non-profit organisation is made up of 150 talented and dedicated musicians who take part in around six concerts per year. The orchestra uses the majestic venue of the Albert Halls in the town centre for it's concerts.

The Aims of Bolton Symphony Orchestra
The objectives of Bolton Symphony Orchestra are to:
1. Promote a successful and exciting concert season.
2. Develop closer links with like-minded ensembles.
3. Maintain and develop high customer interest in BSO and its associated ensembles.
4. Promote 20th Century music wherever possible.
5. Promote appropriate community events.
6. Promote the cultural excellence of the Borough to a wider audience.
7.Encourage greater family attendance at BSO events.
8. Bring to Bolton the very best in international soloists
Working wth Bolton Symphony Orchestra
Bolton Symphony Orchestra welcomes opportunities to work in partnership with other organisations and are currently supported by National Grid, Whitakers of Bolton, Nexus Solicitors and Fieldings Porter Solicitors.
The orchestra have also staged fundraising events for Bolton Hospice and the NSPCC, as well as engaging with the local community through Bolton Music Service.
