Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) is one of the UK's longest established operational Airports having been officially opened on 1st July 1933.

JLA is situated seven miles South East of Liverpool City Centre and adjacent to the River Mersey. JLA is one of the UK's top 10 busiest airports. In 2011, JLA handled over 5.3 million passengers - an increase of 4.5% compared to the previous year. Passenger numbers have increased ten fold since 1995, with the Airport moving from 20th to 10th busiest airport in the UK.

In recent years, Liverpool has been one of the UK's fastest growing regional airports with flights to over 60 destinations. The Airport has been at the forefront of low cost air travel since the mid 1990s, when this growth sector of the airline industry started to develop.

Airlines at JLA include two of Europe's largest low cost airlines, easyJet and Ryanair, both of whom have large bases at JLA, offering a comprehensive network of point to point services.
