"Vend a Spend is a team of pupils which set up and run the school shop at St James High School"
About
Vend-a-Spend was established in 2009 by a group of five pupils from St James High School. It started off because Rijo Coffee donated a vending machine to them for an enterprise project.
These fantastic five students then came up with a marvellous business plan to promote their vending machine and set up a stall in a classroom. These students worked hard through their breaks and lunches and finally made enough money to set up a cabin which cost £2,800!
They currently have 48 members of the Vend-a-Spend staff in all year groups who run the shop before school, break and lunch time.
Vend-a-Spend stocks and sells a whole variety of different products. Such as stationery, handmade cards, gifts and fair-trade products. A lot of the children involved in Vend-a-Spend stay behind after school at a craft club making handmade products to sell in their shop!
Events
As well as running the shop in their breaks, they hold regular events to celebrate special occasions including Bolton’s event markets such as the Festive and Love your Market.
Not only that, four of the students were invited to meet Dragons Den star, Piers Linney. They seized the moment and handed over details of their business.
Meet the entrepreneurs of the future!
