Today is Thanksgiving in the USA as is the last Thursday each November. The Friday that follows has become the biggest sales day by American retailers and kicks starts the Christmas shopping frenzy too.
Over the last few years it’s becoming more popular in England, driven by the bigger USA firms active in the UK market. Now you will find larger English retailers offering Black Friday Sales.
What about the smaller retailers?
There is an initiative called Small Business Saturday to try and help the smaller retailers compete. With some councils and High Street Trading Organizations promoting the event and offering free parking to encourage shoppers to use the independent stores. So keep an eye for Small Business Saturday!
