Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was delighted to be proved wrong by his players after admitting that promotion this season would be unachievable.
The Cherries secured their League One place next season with a 2-0 win at Burton, despite having to deal with financial uncertainty, a transfer embargo and player shortages.Howe's sole focus was to avoid relegation, however, as the season wore on and the club began to push for promotion, the 32-year-old worried that the embargo would hinder their progress.
"I think the expectation at the start of the season, from myself and everyone else, was to stay in the league, first and foremost," Howe told the Bournemouth Echo.
"I just felt with the embargo and the restrictions placed upon us, it was just going to be too big an ask.
"But I'm absolutely delighted to have been proved wrong."
