Aristotle Onassis was one of the most spectaularly successful businessmen the world has ever known, who by his own efforts became a billionaire. If you judge success in business by financial gain, he is up there as one of the greatest of all time. What he was not so successful at was life itself. He left behind broken hearts and a dysfunctional family that saw that dysfunctionality and unhappiness pass down two generations and infecting anyone who became personally entwined with that family.
I would suggest that having vast amounts of cash is utterly useless to you if you are completely miserable. Business people are quite ready to address the loss-making parts of their company, so it would make equal sense to address their personal issues. Perhaps the reason they don't is that there is no peer pressure to do so. Your issue only affects you - or does it?
Actually it does. Avoiding dealing with your personal issues on the grounds that it doesn't affect the everyday running of your business is a ludicrous false economy. The fact is that carrying emotional baggage will cause you to make bad decisions. Not everyone is as gifted as Aristotle Onassis was at not letting his disastrous personal life affect his shrewd business sense. For every Onassis there's many more Ratners who throw their business away because "monsters from the subconscious" override their reasoning.
If you're serious about success, first take a walk in country by yourself and decide what you want success for. Are your reasons consistent and in agreement with a general recipe for your personal happiness? The thrill of landing a well-paid enterprise soon turns sour if you actually hate doing it or the rest of your life is a mess. If you are doing what you're passionate about, don't let any personal issue get in the way of it. Deal with your issue as part of your business plan. Putting it off is to put off happiness.
