Mignonette Aarons (L.R.A.M.) is a professionally trained musician, offering Piano lessons, Singing tuition and lessons about the theory of music. Mignonette is based in Brent and offers professional music tuition for all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced level. All styles of singing and piano are taught. Mignonette is also able to teach graded piano and singing lessons.

Mignonette believes a good music teacher is one who engages her pupils positively and recognises the individual potential of every adult and child to help them achieve far beyond their musical boundaries.  Her dedication to music has enabled her to  help students further a career into professional music, children who have won scholarships into grammar schools, and singing pupils who have been successful in gaining places in theatre schools.

Piano Lessons

Mignonette is able to adapt her piana lessons to suit both children and adults as she has a wide variety of resource materials available. All teaching material will enable the student to start reading music right away, and this allows for complete musical pieces to be played within a short timeframe.  Elements in lessons include correct finger positioning, good posture, technical exercises such as scales and arpeggios, sight reading and aural skills.

Singing Tuition

Mignonette's singing tuition is adaptable to every student. She can help with breathing technique, vocal production, warm up exercises, flexibility and strengthening exercises.  Repertoire can be any style of music depending on the preference of the pupil, but students can experience various genres if they so wish to expand their knowledge.  This is particularly important should they wish to take the graded examinations.

Theory of Music

Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Grade 5 Theory Examination is a pre-requisite for taking the higher grade examinations in Piano and Teaching at grades 6-8.  Most Universities will expect an applicant to have passed the Grade 5 Theory examination.  Mignonette is able to offer Theory of Music lessons to students of all ages.

Examinations

Examinations for the Royal Schools of Music Associated Board take place three times a year in Spring, Summer and Winter locally.  Accompaniment for singing examinations is provided.

Exams range from the Preparatory Test through to Grade 8 and Diploma examinations are offered for more advanced students.

Students are under no obligation to take exams.  However, exams are a good way for students to utilise the skills they have acquired in lessons to be assessed by an independent adjudicator outside the lesson environments.  Students are encouraged to take part in festivals where they can acquire confidence and feedback as to their performance skills.

GCSE and A level Preparation

Mignonette is able to help with specific elements of the syllabus such as Performance, Composition, Harmony, Listening Skills and History of Music.

Mignonette offers a FREE consultation so that you can discuss your tuition needs before commiting to a programme of lessons.
