It was a good Christmas for the retail industry, especially furniture.
For UK based niche furniture manufacturing companies this meant than after a terrible 2008 and 2009 there was some good news as the orders came in.
But unfortunately that just temporarily masked the debt which many manufactures had got them self into trying to survive during the worst downturn in years.
I have seen this in the number of furniture manufacturers that are being offered to my by administrators.
But I believe there is hope. It is quite clear that the companies I have come across who have got to this stage have very specialist skills that cant be outsourced, which why they have survived this long.
Through working together and cross selling I believe furniture manufactures and not just survive but also thrive in the coming years.
