FIVE TIPS FOR GETTING MORE ACCURATE SEARCH RESULTS USING GOOGLE

Welcome to my blog on Getting More Accurate Search Results. I am going to cover the following:

1  Include Words
2  Automatic conversions
3  Similar words
4  Use OR
5  Specify range

INCLUDE WORDS

Are you aware that Google excludes common words and characters  from results    even if you type them in.  To overcome this Use the + to force a word to be in your search for example, fast +and slow.

AUTOMATIC CONVERSIONS

Instead of looking for a conversion website, use Google.  Type convert 6 miles to kilometre, for example and your result will appear at the top of the list.

3  SIMILAR WORDS

If you add the tilde symbol (~) to your search immediately before a keyword, your results will contain your keyword along with its synonyms.  For example, type ~small and your results show pages containing words such as "little".

4  USE OR

Enter OR in your query between two keywords and you will get search results for pages that contain either terms.  For example type Twitter OR Facebook.  The OR must be typed in capital letters, otherwise Google will treat it as a standard search keyword.

5  SPECIFY RANGE

You can use the ..operator to specify that results show numbers within a specified range.  For example you could type British Prime Ministers 1975...2010.  This helps narrow down the selected results period.

I hope you find this blog helpful. Please email me to melanie_berenblut@yahoo.co.uk, if there are specific queries you have with searching on Google, and I will feature them in a blog.

Best wishes

Melanie
