LOCAL IT TRAINER: EIGHT STEPS TO CREATING A LINKEDIN ACCOUNT

In my blog today I am going to focus on eight steps to creating a LinkedIn Account.  For the benefit of those reading this blog who have not heard of LinkedIn, below is a brief explanation of LinkedIn taken from Wikipedia "LinkedIn (pronounced /ˌlɪŋkt.ˈɪn/) is a business-oriented social networking site. Founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003,[2] it is mainly used for professional networking. As of 9 August 2010 (2010 -08-09)[update], LinkedIn had more than 75 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.[3] The site is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.[4]".

LinkedIn is free to join.

1. Go to Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Firefox.

2. In the address bar, type in http://www.linkedin.com

3. Locate the "Join Now" button and click on it with your left mouse button.

4. Fill out your name and email address in the boxes provided.

5. Choose a password by entering it in the box provided.

6. Confirm your password by reentering it in the box provided.

7. Complete the remaining boxes, along with country and postcode.

8. Finalise the process by clicking on the "Join Now" button with your left mouse button.

In next week's blog I will be focussing on some of LinkedIn's features.

If you have specific questions on Social Media that you would like me to cover in a blog, please email melanie_berenblut@yahoo.co.uk

I will be running LinkedIn and Twitter training courses in North West London in early October. Please email me if you would like to attend.  Additionally, if there are specific topics you are interested in learning, please do not hesitate to let me know.
