Melanie Berenblut's Top Tips for Examination Success
Examination time is here again! From my experience as an IT Lecturer, preparing students for examinations. I would like to pass these tips on to those taking examinations this summer.
TIP 1
Check the duration of the examination and number of questions first.
TIP 2
If your exam is 60 minutes and you have 20 questions to answer. You need to allow 3 minutes per question. However, some questions have been allocated greater marks. You will need to reduce the timing for questions with less marks accordingly.
TIP 3
In pencil go through and circle the marks per question.
TIP 4
Read each question twice.
TIP 5
If you are uncertain of an answer to a question, move on to the next question.
TIP 6
Return to questions that you have left unanswered.
TIP 7
For most examinations, you will need to have attempted all the questions.
TIP 8
Do not forget to put a line through, anything that you do not want an examiner to read.
TIP 9
Check your answers for spelling errors.
TIP 10
Do not forget where possible to allow time at the end, to read through your answers again.
Wishing you Good Luck in your examinations this summer.
