What do architects do

I'm often asked so what do you do, I always quote them Louis Hellman

"The architect may be compare to both the composer of the music and the conductor of orchestra.  Architectural plans are like the musical score and, in a similar fashion, can be interpreted on many levels by those who can read them.  Like scores, they may be beautiful in themselves, but their function is to be blueprints for the performance-the building.  Architecture is the concept, first in the architect's mind, then on paper and finally realised through the instruments- the building materials.  The architect co-ordinate the tempo and melody produced by all the players involved."
