Surfing is a popular activity in the Bridgend County area and we happen to have some great beaches right on our doorstep. If you want to take advantage of this glorious weather and aren't sure what to do, why not consider surfing?
You may already be a seasoned surfer so you don’t need any encouragement to get in that water but what if you are a complete beginner to the surfing world? Luckily, Cressey’s Surf Academy are available to help. They offer surf lessons and equipment hire so they have all you need to learn how to surf. Ingemar Cressey, who runs the academy, has been Welsh National Surfing Champion for the past two years and has over fourteen years experience as a surf coach. Both he and other experienced, qualified instructors are available to teach you, whether you are complete beginner or an accomplished surfer looking to improve. Their website gives details of their various different types of lesson which can be one on one or as group, and as well as that they offer surfing holidays for those looking to get away and surf somewhere different.
In addition to these lessons, the Junior Surf Academy (JSA) for 8-16 year olds is run as after school sessions during term time between April and October. Over the summer holidays, Cressey’s Surf Academy run some JSA Summer Surf Camps across South Wales. From the 18th to the 23rd of August, a camp will be run at Rest Bay in Porthcawl. The camp is suitable for all levels of surfing ability and involves lots of fun, games, surfing education, surfing techniques and much more. It starts at 10 am and finishes at 3 pm every day, and there are limited spaces so people must phone and book.
