Flu Friends Wanted
Bridgend County Borough Concil's Bulletin which recently came through my door is urging Bridgend residents to make arrangements with friends, families and neighbours who can collect medication and shop for you if you should develop swine flu.
We have been told since the start of this outbreak that we should stay at home and check symptoms on NHS Direct if we think we may have the illness. You can go straight through to NHS Direct here. You can of course ring your local surgery for advice too.
Swine flu is spread through coming in contact with others with the illness or by touching surfaces infected with the virus. LImiting social contact and having good hand hygiene (washing hands thoroughly with soap and water) is recommended as the best way of reducing contact with the virus.
A vaccination programme is now under way but is being targeted at those most at risk; the over 65's, pregnant women, people with underlying serious health conditions and people with lowered immune systems.
