Tick Alert - Bridgend dog walkers.
I recently had my dog boarded with Pen-y-Bont Petmate where Michael spotted and removed a couple of ticks. My husband has been walking the dog (almost exclusively) at Island Farm, the old prisoner of war camp, just off the A48 in Bridgend and we think that is the source of the ticks.
If you have, or know anywhere in the Bridgend area where ticks are prevalent, it really is worth letting other walkers know so they they can check themselves and their animals.
If you are not aware of the risks posed by ticks, it is important to know that ticks can cause very serious illness in humans and animals . There are lots of useful sources of information on the internet about ticks:
National Public Health Service for Wales
Interesting article on how to remove ticks from dogs (and cats).
Please share your tick alerts for the Bridgend area.
