Best facts about Bridgend?
Interesting facts about Bridgend (people, inventions, achievements) courtesy of Bridgend's Tourism Unit.
Did you know that Bridgend gets more sunshine hours than Milan in Northern Italy? I don't know whether that record still stands after last summer though.
Some of the snippets are interesting but it's stretching it a bit to lay claim to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Burton ... born just a few miles from Bridgend. What about Dylan Thomas, Tom Jones, Catherine Jenkins and Shirley Bassey .... the list goes on.
I did notice that Ruth Jones (of Gavin and Stacey fame) was missing from the list ... born in Bridgend and went to school in Porthcawl. Also her co-performer, comedy actor Rob Brydon, went to school in Porthcawl.
That said, do you have any Bridgend facts that are not on the list? Please let us know by registering and replying to the blog directly or sending us an email to bridgend@thebestof.co.uk
