North Laine was originally the center of Brighthelmstone, as Brighton was called when it was still a fishing village. Now it is a lively area where you can explore more than 400 independent and individual shops, entertainment venues and cafes that have a real character and are colourful. North Laine is only two minutes away from the Brighton Station but can be easily reached from the city center, the beach or the Royal Pavilion. Here are some recommendations what to do:
Brighton Dome
Brighton Dome hosts more than over 600 events which are comprising music, theatre, dance, comedy, literature, film and much more. Each May they produce the Brighton Festival, a three week lasting annual celebration that was established in 1967 and has now become a symbol for inventiveness. It is England's leading and most advanced mixed- arts celebration.
Brighton Dome has obliged its self to bringing all sorts of art to all sorts of people. Their purpose is to promote the creativity of the people and to gather unforgettable experiences. Even though everything started 200 years ago when Brighton Dome was the Prince Regent's stable and riding house, they have now a 150 year history as a performance venue, located in the city center near the Royal Pavilion. Theatre Royal
The Theatre presents a series of West-End and tour musicals, plays and host operas and ballet performances as well. It opened in 1807 and developed to a respected venue that was visited by the Queen due to its 200 anniversary in 2007. Since 1999 the Theatre is owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group. Furthermore, backstage tours are offered which allows you to experience the hidden places of one of the oldest working theatres in England.The aesthetic auditorium in a regency style is wort to mention, too.
The Theatre Royal is five minutes by foot away of the Brighton Station with a parking nearby.

Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion is a former palace, designed in dependence on Indian style and equipped in Chinese vein. You can explore the Pavilion by taking an audio guided tour which are available in a variety of languages. Meanwhile, you can take a short rest in the Tearoom, which has a balcony from where it is possible to overlook the Pavilions gardens.
From October to March the Pavilion is open from 10am till 5.15pm and the last tickets can be bought until 4.30pm. From April to September it is open to public from 9.30am till 5.45pm. The last tickets are sold until 5pm. The Royal Pavilion is closed from 2.30pm at the 24th December and all day on 25 and 26 December.

The Shops
There is an unique selection of independent fashion shops comprising home decor, lifestyle, vintage and fashion.
