On Saturday the 3rd December, the crowds lined the pavements all the way along Chislehurst High Street for the official start to Christmas! Everyone eagerly awaited the arrival of Santa who made his merry way in the Chislehurst Rotary sleigh to switch on the Christmas lights.
There was a huge turnout of adults and children, even our Bromley Mayor, Councillor Ian Payne, got to shake Santa's hand! The 138 organisations who are members of the Chislehurst Business Group sponsor the beautiful lights, and the residents & businesses of Chislehurt couldn't appreciate the difference it makes to feeling Christmassy in the village. This year to add to the festive spirit there are also blue and white spheres on display, Christmas trees on the lamp columns and twinkly lights in the trees.
Clare Herriot, volunteer for Visit Chislehurst & manager of 2gether charity shop in the village said 'There was a wonderful atmosphere; it is occasions like these that bring the community together and the lights are just another good reason to visit Chislehurst over this festive Christmas season.'
