Bromley Trading Standards have created drop-boxes at the libraries around the borough to collect scam mail to help them tackle the scammers trying to take advantage of people in the borough.
Scam mailings are letters which promise large lottery wins which request a processing or administration fee to be sent to claim their ‘winnings’. Such prizes do not exist and the money is rarely recovered.
The campaign is to highlight these mass marketing scam mailings that are sent out every day from unscrupulous fraudsters who want to con vulnerable and elderly residents in Bromley out of their cash.
By dropping the scam mail into your local scamnesty bin, consumers will be able to provide crucial intelligence to support those working to stop scams bringing misery to thousands of people every year.
The locations of the drop boxes are:
Bromley Central Library
Orpington Library
Biggin Hill Library
Beckenham Library

Please pass this news on and make sure we help the Bromley Trading Standards guys stop the conmen.
All the best
