Melanie Khuddro, a student at Bishop Justus C of E School, is the toast of her schoolmates this week, as the 18-year-old celebrates winning the £1000 prize in the Glades’ Prom Competition.
Part of the promotion for the Glades’ Prom Nights event which took place last month, the competition invited school prom-goers to state in no more than 100 words how they would spend the cash to make their school’s big night one to remember. In her entry, Melanie had outlined her hopes to add a glamorous set to the venue for her school’s first ever prom that would make it extra special and set the standard for future events. As well as being the most popular pupil at the party, Melanie will be the belle of the ball, as she also receives a personal prize of a style and fashion makeover. Said Melanie, “I can’t believe we’ve won. It’s just fantastic and will really help us celebrate in style at our prom on 1 July at Bickley Manor Hotel!”
Explained Mary Vigar, PR and Events Manager at Bishop Justus, “We’re absolutely delighted that our students have won this wonderful prize. As the school was only founded in 2004, our Year 13 pupils of 2011 are the first to graduate from Bishop Justus, so this will be a really special – and, no doubt, emotional – night for them, as well as for the sixth form staff. The students have all worked incredibly hard for their exams, so they really deserve this treat.”
Commented Maria Cooper, Marketing Manager at the Glades, “We were very pleased with the success of our first ever Prom Nights event and especially the fact that students were so keen to experience our new Style Pod and get hot tips on not only fashion but also hairstyling, accessories, shoes and jewellery from our Style Advisor and other retail experts. As a result, Bromley’s prom-goers are going to look fabulous this year!”
