It's that time of year again... Christmas shopping! With the change in technology these days and the many advantages it brings, online shopping is one of them with many of us avoiding the hoardes trudging round the shops and turning to online shopping to fulfil our Christmas shopping needs.
Chislehurst Chiropractic Clinic have some great advice for you if you're planning to shop online.
Instead of sitting hunched over a computer or laptop, follow these simple steps to help you and your posture!
If using a laptop, it really is worth investing in a stand to put it on. Sitting on the sofa with the laptop on your lap sounds inviting but really doesn't do your neck or back any good. Working from a stand ensures the screen is at eye level so causes less strain on your neck and shoulders.
Try not to sit for long periods - this is particularly important if you are looking down onto your screen with your head unsupported.
Never sit at a computer for more than 40 minutes; less if possible, and make sure you take regular breaks. This will also reduce the strain on your body.
But when it comes to getting stuck in on the high street, there's also lots you can do to make the experience more pleasurable.
When pounding the pavements make sure you wear comfortable shoes and to avoid straining your shoulders & back, try to carry your shopping bags evenly in each hand. Better still, wear a backpack to distribute the load, or head back to the car at regular intervals to leave your purchases there.
Attention all ladies! Don't overload that enormous handbag and carry extra unnecessary weight! Only carry the essential items that you need for the day ahead and try to use a cross-body bag, as this distributes the weight much more effectively.
Following these basic tips should help keep you pain free for your Christmas shopping, no matter how you choose to do it.
