Oh my goodness, no sooner was the August bank holiday out that way and the retailers were stocking up with Christmas stock... it always pains me how much they wish our lives away when they bring these things in so early! Selfridges in London opened their Christmas floor back at the beginning of August!
So yes, while there's plenty of time ahead to get your Christmas shopping done, when it comes to online shopping ordering with plenty of time to spare is key. Remember the snow we had in December a couple of years ago? The last thing you want is for adverse weather to mean that your carefully selected gift doesn't make it on time.
There are also real bargains to be had, especially over weekends like Cyber Monday and Black Friday (traditionally over the American thanksgiving weekend) - keep an eye out and just make sure you've checked out pricing beforehand to be sure it really is the amazing deal they claim it is.
But above and beyond all of this, probably the most important thing to remember is that the lead up to Christmas is the busiest time of year for retailers, the importance of which is incredibly vital to our independent high street retailers in particular. They need your support, especially over the Christmas period, to keep their business running. Supporting your independent retailers means putting more money back into your local community.
So this year, why don't you plan to do at least a portion of your Christmas shopping with your local independent retailers and make sure you keep your high street thriving for years to come.
