OUR BURY ST EDMUNDS CHRISTMAS FAYRE NEW FOR 2013 THURSDAY 28th NOVEMBER We will be adding an extra evening to the Fayre this year. This is a great time to visit without the weekend crowds and ideal time for âbrowsersâ to visit. Along with FREE parking at all major car parks and HALF PRICE funfair rides this really is a great time to visit. A further attraction will be the DENNY BROTHERS CHRISTMAS PARADE, this parade will be led by Christmas Fayre favourites Big Al and his Jazz Band along with school children from Hardwick Primary, Hardwick Middle and Westley Middle Schools carrying Father Christmas Puppets and Stars. Any other children who would like to be involved will have the chance to make their own stars between 3.30pm â 5.00pm in the apex foyer. All children will receive a free Christmas Fayre goodie bag which includes a free fairground voucher and the special Christmas Fayre gift! Parade will leave the Music Sales stage in the arc shopping centre at 5.30pm and arrive on Angel Hill at 5.45pm. EACH Carol Concert â another exciting addition to the Fayre! âEast Angliaâs Childrenâs Hospices (EACH) are pleased to be holding their Christmas Carol Concert in the prestigious St Edmundsbury Cathedral this year. The family service on Thursday 28th November runs from 6-7pm and will include your favourite carols as sung by pupils from Westley Middle School, County Upper School, South Lee School, St Jamesâs Middle School and the Cathedral Choristers. The service is free and families are invited to come along and join us in the Cathedral. There will be a retiring collection in aid of EACH to help support local families with a child with a life-threatening condition and complex healthcare needs. For more information you can contact EACH on 01473 276196â We will have live music on both the Music Sales Stage in the Arc and the Greene King stage on Angel Hill all through the evening. Highlights include Ickworth Primary School and Cockfield Primary School children performing in the arc and The Robbie Gladwell Band finishing the entertainment on Angel Hill at 7.15pm. The Robbie Gladwell Band features some of the most well respected musicians in the business. Between them they have played with many famous acts and bands. These include: Cockney Rebel, BB King, Suzi Quatro, Gary Moore & Gregg Wright (Michael Jackson), to mention but a few. Together they play an eclectic mix of rock, pop, jazz, soul and blues in a dynamic, high energy style. They will be joined on saxophone and guitar by 16 year old Harry Greene, who recently won the title of 'Suffolk young musician of the year! NEW IN THE ABBEY GARDENS: The East of England Co-operative Societyâs Cookery Demonstration Unit attend this yearâs Fayre!! Based in the Abbey Gardens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this kitchen comes complete with local guest chefs cooking local produce especially for Christmas. There is also the chance to sample sourced locally products and lots more! Chefs will include: ⢠Simon Cook from Smugglers Catering in Hadleigh ⢠Don Lear from The Bhaji Man â a regular trader at the Christmas Fayre you can find him on Angel Hill ⢠16 year old Sam Woor who is a former Junior Masterchef quarter finalist and regularly writes in the Suffolk Magazine Students from West Suffolk College In addition, there will be glasses of mulled wine, jacket potatoes and turkey curry being sold with all profits will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St Edmunds. The staff will be sampling and selling products from our Sourced Locally range including Stokes Sauces, Growler Brewery and Leigh Maid chocolate. There will also be a Tree to Remember in the marquee. Visitors will be able to leave messages of remembrance on the tree or find out about our carol concerts that are taking place in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk in the run up to Christmas. People can also leave messages via the online Tree to Remember. Thereâll be free badge making for children in our display vehicle and the chance to win a fantastic Sourced Locally Christmas hamper in our free prize draw. Goody bags will be handed out, and thereâll be some freebies for children including bugs, wristbands and balloons. Watch out for the mascots, Sally Strawberry and Nar Nar Banana as they will also be coming along to join in the fun! THE NATIVITY STORY Come and see that traditional Christmas Story we all know so well! Performed by three local actors from the Theatre Royal, some puppets and a lot of fun! Find us in the Abbey Gardens from 10-11:30, Hatter Street 12:00-2:00 or The Traverse from 2:30-4:00 on December the 1st for a classic Christmas tale for children and adults alike. See you there! Performed by three Young Associates from the Bury Theatre Royal who are interning for a year, and taking part in all kinds of aspects of the Theatre; From Shakespeare to Terry Pratchett, Young Offenders workshops to Childrenâs Tours.
