The Bury Blind society was founded in 1922, we aim to enhance the quality of life for all visually-impaired people in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury.
My dad has been blind since an early age and he uses the blind society. This place gives him a purpose in life and he has met many new friends. What a great charity!

Speakeasy is a charity in Ramsbottom, Bury helping people who have asphasia and their carers with support and information. People who have asphasia and their families are given long term therapeutic help and support by speech and language therapists, other staff and volunteers.
My partner Debbie has been attending Speakeasy for 12 months now and we can't thank this wonderful and worthwhile charity enough. After suffering a severe stroke which affected her right side and took her speech leaving her with Aphasia .Debbie is fighting hard on a long road to recovery. She spent a few years in speech therapy which gave her a good grounding in her efforts to speak. Since moving on and attending Speakeasy the difference they've made to her speech and communication is amazing . A couple of weeks ago Debbie stood up in front everybody and gave a presentation about her life. Thank you Speakeasy for everything you do and making such a difference to our lives.
