Bury Shopmobility offer a fantastic service to individuals suffering from mobility problems. This registered charity (number 1107981) provide members with the means to go shopping; whether that be through the use of powered or manual vehicles or by volunteer assistance.

Simply having the opportunity to go shopping can help regain an individual's independence, boost well being and increase their general feeling of happiness. Bury Shopmobility is a fantastic charity to support and can provide their service to members who don't live in the Bury area.

Electric and manual wheelchairs, as well as scooters are available from Shopmobility and volunteers can be on hand to escort individuals, push manual wheelchairs and provide assistance during the journey. Assistance can be through reaching items from high shelves and ensuring each member feels comfortable.

Shopmobility provide this fantastic service to people of all ages suffering from a range of mobility problems, such as:

• Blindness
• Heart and lung disease
• Rheumatism
• Asthma
• Frailty
• Motor problems

Shopmobility currently have 300 schemes across the UK, enabling individuals to maintain their independence and simply have a day out.

Joining Bury Shopmobility

To become a member of Bury Shopmobility, allowing you to use this fantastic service you will have to:

• Complete an application form (available from our building or on our website)
• Make a donation (£12.50 annual donation)
• Provide identification
• Sign an insurance declaration
• Pass a simple Health & Safety assessment to use Bury Shopmobility's vehicles

An extra cost of £3 per session (or £5 for all day) is required and a session usually runs for three hours, either in the morning or the afternoon.

We do offer additional services such as daily hire for just £10, which does not require you to become a member, and long term wheelchair hire. Please contact us for more details.
