A day packed with summer fashion showcases and live music kicked off The Rock's first birthday celebrations last weekend! Despite the rain, footfall was up a whopping 25% from The Rock's typical Saturday peak-time visitor levels.
The event had a floral theme and was kicked off by school children from St John with St Mark C of E Primary School in Bury at a lively summer parade. The kids walked around The Rock with colourful hand-made flowers, which they had made themslves especially before the event.
After the parade the celebrations continued with summer fashion showcases and live music, which included talented band Kid British. Retailers on The Rock showcased their summer ranges with fantastic models and each catwalk show wowed the audience- especially with a unique high-wire performance taking place above the main stage at the same time.
The Rock worked closely in partnership with the Ramsbottom Festival to plan the musical line up for the day, giving visitors a "sneak preview" of the fantastic bands performing at the festival, which is taking place later this year. Performers included Manchester-based singer songwriter, Ruby Ann Paterson and soulful duo Taylor & The Mason and course, Kid British.
Continuing the floral theme for the day, The Rock also unveiled a ‘Living Dress’, which was on display on the main stage throughout the day. Not wanting waste such a beautiful piece, The Rock has since been planted the ‘Living’ dress at St John’s Gardens, where it will continue to grow throughout the summer.
