What’s happening in Bury over the bank holiday weekend I hear you ask? Well, what isn’t! We’re coming up to August bank holiday, and here at thebestofbury we want to make sure that you and your family have a perfect day. Whether it’s spent relaxing or it’s spent in the baking Sun (we hope) with lots of little people clinging onto your arms and legs, we’ve got you covered!
Night Life
Why not start your Friday night right with a ‘far out’ 70s Boogie Night at the Village, join other cool cats and dance the night away, can you dig it? £25pp and that includes a three-course meal, disco and a late bar! The bar opens at 7pm why not order a classic 70’s favourite such as a Cinzano and lemonade, dinner served at 8pm and we wonder if there will be a 70s theme food (let’s hope so, cheese fondue and chicken in a basket are our favourites). The bar closes at 12:30am for all you wild animals and the event finishes a 1am giving you enough time to finish your drink and vacate the premises.
Art Exhibitions
Or if the 70s aren’t a decade you’d want to relive... Why not head to the Bury Art Museum for a Reading is Art exhibition which is on until the 19th of November. If reading and art is your thing then this is for you. The variety of mediums is incredible, things that we overlook every day. This is free to enter and well worth the trip to Bury Art Museum! If the kids are in charge of your bank holiday weekend, don’t sweat as the exhibition is on until early November giving you lots of time (26 Aug 2016 - 19 Nov 2016).
Historical Events for Children
If the Elizabethan era is something of interest to you or your children, why not take the kids to Strictly Come Shakespeare and let them loose? They’ll get the opportunity to learn some moves from the Elizabethan era and showcase them to you and the other parents. We know judging must be difficult but for £5 per family, it’s definitely worth it. Just don’t do a Simon and upset the children. Keep the older kids (7-11) entertained 10am-12 with this unique event.
Writing Workshops
For all budding writers there’s a Roald Dahl workshop where your children will have the opportunity the writer stories and have fun! For anyone who likes this idea head down to Ramsbottom library. This summer reading challenge is free and keeps the kids busy from 2-3:30.
