Our very own Mark Tongue from Bobbles has recently completed the Three Peaks Challenge alongside friends Andy Cartledge, Graham Robb, Neal Barrington, Mark Stott, Stuart Garnett and Paul Harrison. This hugely demanding and notoriously difficult challenge covers Scafell Pike in the Lake District, Snowdon in Wales and Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis.

Mark and his team started at Ben Nevis in good conditions but the steep and tiring climb soon took it's toll. Ben Nevis is 4,406 ft high and one walker was airlifted off the mountain as the challenge got underweigh. Moving on to the 3,209 ft Scafell Pike the team ploughed on despite only having a few hours sleep in a very cramped minibus!

Next but by no means least was Snowdon at 3,560 ft, which is known to have one of the wettest climates in Britain. The team experienced the full extent of this as they tackled howling winds and driving rain, finally crawling to the summit to avoid being blown away!

You may ask why Mark and his team undertook such a formidable task - it was all in aid of the "Hair Raising" appeal currently being headed by John Freida. This good cause is helping to raise a whopping £1 million for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, which will be spent on two brand new operating theatres.
