The Eric Wright Bursary

Bury Grammar School Girls is delighted to receive the support of the Eric Wright Group who have most generously offered to fund a new bursary place commencing this September.

Following the entrance examination in January, offers for September places were confirmed this week.  A bright young student, who performed especially well in examination, is absolutely thrilled to receive confirmation of her bursary which will allow her the life-changing opportunity to complete her secondary education at BGSG.

Group Director, Chris Evenson, was instrumental in securing the bursary funding.  Chris, whose own children were educated at Bury Grammar Schools, places great value upon the type of education they offer.

Headmistress, Roberta Georghiou, says, “I speak for all of us at Bury Grammar School Girls in warmly thanking the Eric Wright Group for its generosity in providing a bursary for this coming September.  Bursaries allow young girls whose parents could not otherwise afford to access our grammar school education and all the benefits which follow.  The girls joining us as a result of our bursary scheme will belong to a happy community where learning and the fulfilment of potential go hand in hand”

The Schools are fully committed to increasing bursary funding and since the launch of their Appeal in 2006, provision has been made for 80 new bursary places.  This has been achieved through legacies, monthly donations, individual support and company support such as that offered by the Eric Wright Group.
