Radcliffe won a gold award in a separate category for the 4th year running and Ramsbottom, entered
by Incredible Edible Ramsbottom, won a silver gilt award in its first year of entry since the year 2000.
Two discretionary awards were also presented to Bury – the Environmental Quality Award for Bury’s recycling initiative and the Outstanding Contribution Award went to Martin Dowding, grounds maintenance manager at Bury Council.
Bury was also put forward to represent the region in the national Britain in Bloom finals in 2015.
Councillor Tony Isherwood, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Due once again to a fantastic all round team effort, our borough has retained its reputation for excellence and won yet another set of impressive awards.
“Producing these results year on year is a fantastic achievement and clearly demonstrates what can be pulled off when council teams work in partnership with the local community and local businesses.
“The results are a credit to everyone involved.”
