Council bosses have set October 19 as the date for a second Bury Light Night thanks to sponsorship from local businesses and funding from the private sector.
Despite over ten thousand people flocking to Bury last October there were fears that it may not happen again as the money had been provided from a one-off European fund.
Last year Bury became the first UK town to host a Light Night, its aim is to offer local families and visitors the chance to see the town in a whole new light and lose themselves in the magical atmosphere of the town. There were music acts, fire displays, enchanting storytelling and magical lantern displays with performers providing entertainment across the town’s open spaces and in venues and shops.
Many town centre shops will be open for business, with a range of speciality food and market stalls.
Businesses and local residents who want to get involved, either by participating or offering sponsorship, are asked to contact burylightnight@bury.gov.uk. There is also a Twitter account @burylightnight and a Facebook page, where information will be regularly updated.
