Six Town Housing, who manage over 8,000 homes in Bury, are now offering tenants the chance to "do it themselves", with free D.I.Y training sessions held by their fully qualified repairs and maintenance team.

After the success of their first D.I.Y. sessions at Brandlesholme Community Centre, the project is now being rolled out across the borough. Six Town Housing recently announced sessions at Chesham Fold Community Centre, Bury. Tenants from the estate are already dropping by for the opportunity to learn and develop new skills that will enable them to carry out their own basic DIY in their homes.

Wayne Campbell, Business Manager of Repairs and Maintenance at Six Town Housing, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for tenants to learn basic DIY skills that will empower and give them the confidence to carry out small DIY tasks around the home. Tenants asked for DIY courses and we are delighted to be able to provide them. Feedback from our initial sessions showed that these sessions are very useful and worthwhile to our tenants.”

More sessions are planned at Elms Community Centre in Whitefield, Toodle Hill Children’s Centre at Polefield and Chapelfield in Radcliffe. Please call 0161 686 8000 if you are interested in D.I.Y training.
