Services on the Metrolink network between Bury and Victoria will be suspended from 4pm on Sunday 18 July for engineering work, including preparatory works in readiness for the new Oldham and Rochdale line to be connected with the existing Bury line.

A replacement bus service will run every 12 minutes between Bury and Victoria, calling at all stops. Information will be displayed at stops, directing passengers to replacement bus services and customer service staff will be on hand at key stops to advise and assist.

Passengers should buy their tickets as normal from Metrolink ticket vending machines before boarding the replacement bus.

Normal tram services will resume for the beginning of service on Monday 19 July. The Eccles and Altrincham line services will be unaffected.

The work includes essential engineering work in preparation for the new Metrolink route to Oldham and Rochdale to be connected to the existing Bury line. The new line will open in three phases: to Central Park in spring 2011, to Oldham Mumps in autumn 2011 and to Rochdale Railway Station in spring 2012.

The Oldham and Rochdale line is an essential part of the £600 million Metrolink expansion which will also see new lines to MediaCityUK, Chorlton in South Manchester, and Droylsden in East Manchester.
